HECAS and UCAS Briefing (20.11.2010)

HECAS (Higher Education Centralised Admission System) and UCAS (Universities & Colleges Admissions Service) briefing was held at the Conference Room on 20 November 2010. The briefing provided information for U6 students on the process to applying to higher education at local and overseas institions.

Government Scholarship to University of Otago, New Zealand 2011/12


Students who are interested in applying government scholarship to pursue Medicine, Dentistry, Para-Medical courses (Pharmacy, Physiotherapy etc) at the University of Otago New Zealand (commencing February 2011), please obtain the application form from SMSO Careers.

The deadline to submit the application form (including copies of IC, O and AS Levels certificates, and school report card) to SMSO Careers is on/before Saturday 27 November 2010.
Criteria:
- Brunei Citizen
- Minimum C6 in O Level Malay Language
- Minimum B4 in O Level English Language
- Credit in at least 5 O Level subjects (including Malay Language and English Language)
- Grades BBB in A Level subjects for MoE scholarship; grades AAA in A Level subjects for DANA scholarship

SMSO's Pride - Candy Teo Chia Wei

Candy Teo Chia Wei is currently pursuing BSc Biomedical Engineering at The Imperial College London from September 2010, under DANA Scholarship Scheme. At SMSO 2008-09, she took GCE 'A' Levels in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and 'AS' Level in General Paper, and achieved Grade A in all her A Level subjects.

SMSOnians awarded MoE scholarships to Germany (6.8.2010)

Two of SMSO students (Batch 2008/09) were awarded MoE Scholarships to further their studies in Germany. Nilarustika Roslan and Hariz Aiman Halidi left Brunei on 6 August 2010, to pursue BSc Mechanical Engineering at Carl Benz School, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany.

Two SMSOnians Shortlisted for Carl Benz School (29.4.2010)

Nila Rustika binti Roslan and Hariz Aiman bin Khalidi are among the few who are shortlisted for scholarships to study at Carl Benz School, Karlsruhe Institue of Technology (KIT), Germany. If successful, they will be pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (in English) commencing in August 2010.

On 29 Aril 2010, the two potential students, together with their parents, attended a dinner reception at Sheraton Utama Hotel, held by Dr Brigitta Kappes, Head of Admissions at the Carl Benz School and Dr Thomas Bruns, German Ambassador to Brunei.
